Olivia Newton-John is flying into the Sunshine Coast today in preparation for tomorrow’s Steve Irwin Day celebrations at Australia Zoo.
Thousands of Crocodile Hunter admirers are expected to join the Irwin family, Newton-John and Jimmy Barnes for the special tribute day.
Activities at the zoo will also include the premiere of three new songs by nine-year-old Bindi Irwin, and the launch of Terri’s new book, My Steve, as well as a yet-to-be-revealed “special tribute” to her late husband.
November 15 has been set aside to remember Steve, who died on September 4, 2006, when a stingray barb pierced his heart as he was filming an underwater documentary off the north Queensland coast.
Terri said in a statement it would be a day guests would not forget.
“We can’t wait to celebrate Steve’s amazing life the way he would have wanted, through an action-packed day at the zoo,” she said.
The University of Queensland will honour Steve Irwin at a function tonight with a posthumous adjunct professorship in biology recognising his crocodile research.
